I came to know about New Horizons through two client/trainers/raisers. At the time I worked at Rollins College and after I spoke to Sue and Rachel, I began to research and ask a lot of questions. I received Hollywood, my first service dog, about 5 years ago. She was an amazing dog who completely changed my life. I didn’t realize how much independence I had given up until I received Hollywood. She helped me navigate the Rollins campus, turn on and off lights and added a layer of security that I did not have before I was blessed with her.
When Hollywood passed from cancer, I was devastated. But New Horizons put me in the next team training where I met Nehi and while Nehi is not Hollywood, he is just as amazing in so many ways. Nehi has the ability to open doors, pick up my phone, along with a myriad of other tasks that aids me in my independence and again, adds a layer of security for me that I otherwise would not have without him.
